OUR HISTORY

Behind the scenes of Sun Diving Centre Unawatuna, Ranjith, the visionary owner, brings with him an incredible 35 years of diving experience in this very area. Since he was just 8 years old, he’s called the sea his home. Following his profession in fishing, his expertise and passion for the ocean, prompted him to venture into the realm of recreational diving; leading him to start Sun Diving Centre in 2014 together with his eldest son Shan, and his role as PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
Throughout the years, Shan has also dedicated his life to deepening his knowledge and skills in scuba diving while always ensuring top notch hospitality for his guests – aiming for likeminded divers to leave feeling inspired and as friends.

Then, through the hard work and dedication, Sun Diving Centre proudly earnt the PADI 5-star Dive Resort license 10 years later, in 2024!

With a friendly smile and a wealth of knowledge, Ranjith and our international team are excited to show you all the amazing experiences our region has to offer, both underwater and on land.
