Excellent PADI training Visited in aug to complete our Padi course with my sons and husband. I was a bit concerned about it being the rainy season and the sea being quite rough, however the team were great In working around this. We enjoyed the tuk tuk ride to a nearby pool to complete the Initial skills on the first day. Then day 2 we did a dive close to the beach and then a very short boat ride to an area nr some rocks for our second dive. Day 3 we did both dives by the rocks and got to see a statue and shipwreck along with a sting ray, angel fish a many other fish. The visibility was better on day three which was great. From the point of initial contact, all communication was very warm and welcoming; keen to make our holiday special and answering a couple of non dive questions as well as many dive related ones. Unfortunately my youngest son developed an ear infection before we left the uk but they were very understanding and there was no issue in getting a refund for his course. The team were lovely chatting to him and showing interest in his drawings as we juggled the childcare around our training. Tharu was fantastic and was very patient explaining everything numerous times to help us remember all details. He was so calm that it immediately puts you at ease if at any point the nerves start to creep in. Cant recommend them highly enough and we really enjoyed their restaurant recommendations also: one love, hideout and wijaya beach restaurant (where you see turtles coming onto the beach). Unglaublich toll Alle Leute dort waren wirklich super nett, offen und professionell. Es war eine wunderbare erste Erfahrung und ich würde es jeden empfehlen. PADI open water course Did the PADI open water course, company were really helpful over WhatsApp getting the theory sorted before and then the whole process of the course was very efficient, the guides were great in teaching you what to do and made sure you felt safe throughout, would highly recommend, our main guide was called La La and spoke great English and was a good teacher

Great Dive Centre Excellent Dive Centre, great staff, professional but friendly and fun too, very relaxed. Experienced diver so wanted to go to decent sites and not disappointed, really good, especially the Rangoon and SS Orestes Wrecks. 4 dives going out a day and just choose when to join 👍 Didn’t rent equipment but all looked good quality and well looked after. Awesome, first time experience Was first time scuba diving for me! I am 69 years old. It was an awesome experience. Family dive holiday We have just finished a great two days diving with sun diving. Wishva led our diving for the three certified divers and could not have been better. So helpful and great sense of humour and fun. The diving was excellent number of different sites and lots to see. Our other son did his open water padi and successfully qualified. Highly Professional Dive Centre with Exceptional Instruction I completed my PADI Open Water Certification with Sun Diving Unawatuna in January 2026, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The entire team is highly professional, well-organised, and maintains a consistently positive and encouraging attitude. As a beginner, that made a huge difference, everything from the briefings to the equipment checks felt safe, structured, and confidence building. A special mention to my instructor, Tyrone Foxtrot. Tyrone was calm, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. He explained concepts clearly, ensured everyone was comfortable at every step, and created a learning environment that was both disciplined and enjoyable. His ability to balance safety with fun truly stood out. If you’re looking to learn diving or get certified in Sri Lanka, I would highly recommend Sun Diving Unawatuna.
